Overview

The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement fosters a vibrant culture of civic engagement across Washington University with a vision of thriving communities in St. Louis and around the world.

The Evaluation Center partnered with the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement to assess the effectiveness of its current marketing and engagement efforts for faculty, students, community partners, donors, and alumni.

Project Description

Background

Through both academic and co-curricular initiatives, the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement educates students for lifelong engaged citizenship, fosters partnerships between campus departments and community organizations, and catalyzes community impact that is responsive to local community needs.

The institute wanted to assess the effectiveness of their current marketing and promotion efforts for its key audiences: faculty, students, community partners, donors, and alumni.

Evaluation Center Activities

  • Conducted focus groups with Washington University students who are either actively engaged with the Institute or not engaged.
  • Conducted interviews with faculty, community partners, donors and alumni to learn more about their perceptions of the Gephardt Institute and suggestions on how it can better serve and engage its audiences.
