Summer Institute: Effective Project Management Techniques for Social Service Settings

This course focuses on key project management competencies critical to executing successful projects. Participants will learn strategies for planning, scheduling, organizing, and controlling projects and will apply these concepts using case studies and small group projects.

The course will consist of daily live Zoom webinars from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., and 5 hours of self-paced course material in Canvas.

Heather Jacobsen is a project manager at the Brown School Evaluation Center. Her responsibilities include managing the Center’s evaluation planning and implementation activities as well as Center communications. Before joining the Evaluation Center, Heather owned ClearApple Health Writing where she consulted on health communication projects and created plain language health materials. She also spent twelve years managing projects and coordinating a team of creatives to produce health materials at Washington University.

Smriti Bajracharya

Smriti Bajracharya, MPH
Public Health Program Manager
Brown School

Smriti Bajracharya is the Public Health Program Manager at the Brown School.  Previously she was a project coordinator at the Brown School Evaluation Center and the Center for Public Health Systems Science, with responsibilities including managing a multi-year outcome evaluation in partnership with a local social service agency. In addition, Smriti is a Brown School adjunct instructor where she teaches a graduate-level project management course. Formerly, as an associate at Innovation Network in Washington, D.C., she collaborated on evaluation projects for health foundations and nonprofits engaged in health advocacy and social justice. She was also a Program Fellow at Missouri Foundation for Health.
