Project Description
Background
Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club partnered with Teen Pregnancy & Prevention Partnership, Grand Center Arts Academy, and Girls, Inc. of St. Louis to form the Ambassadors for Health Collective. A key activity of the Collective is to support the Youth Ambassadors for Health program, which is composed of 20 youth ambassadors ages 12-18 who engage other youth in the community to address preconception, sexual health, and infant vitality. The Youth Ambassadors were trained to discuss these topics by the Teen Pregnancy & Prevention Partnership and by presenters at a four-hour Health Policy Forum. Once trained, Youth Ambassadors spread their message via social media, a PSA ad campaign, a brief video that aired before a Movie Night Under the Stars, and a Community Conversation About Health luncheon held for hundreds of community members.
