Overview

The Environmental Studies Program at Washington University in St. Louis engages with many St. Louis initiatives and organizations to complete environmental projects. These collaborative, class-based projects provide students with “real world” experiences and have a tangible benefit for community partners.

The Evaluation Center partnered with the Environmental Studies Department to develop an evaluation plan for their community engagement work.

Project Description

Background

The Environmental Studies Program at Washington University in St. Louis implemented a strategic planning process for their community engagement work. They convened faculty, staff, students, and community partners over the course of four planning sessions to identify the vision, goals, strategies, and outcomes for their community engagement work.  

Evaluation Center Activities

  • Conducted and analyzed six interviews with Environmental Studies faculty.
  • Developed a logic model.
  • Developed an evaluation plan.
